FAQ

.

1.  Are you affiliated with Yahoo Auctions Japan?

No.  I'm just a guy who runs a website that talks about Yahoo Auctions Japan and helps people who wants to buy things from Yahoo Auctions Japan.

2.  If I register to join the site, does that allow me to bid on Yahoo?

No.  The website has it's own community and message board so you can register and contribute.  You also get access to information and videos that people who have not registered cannot see.  In order to create a bidding account you must contact me and I have to manually create an account for you so you can bid on Yahoo.

3.  So what's this site about?

A lot of people know a little about Yahoo Auctions Japan, but there's no website that's really devoted to it, so I created one.  And in the meantime I also use the site to advertise my own proxy serivce in case people want to buy anything.

4.  How do you know so much about Yahoo?

I've bought thousands of items from Yahoo Auctions over the years and I've sold a bit as well.   It all comes from personal experience.

5.  Can't I just buy myself from Sellers who will ship overseas?

About 99% of Sellers on Yahoo don't ship overseas, and about 99% of Sellers only accept a bank transfer for payment, they don't speak English, and they've never shipped anything overseas before.

6.  But a friend of mine did it.....

Good for him.  He probably had to send 50 messages to buyers before he found one who would work with him.  Then he probably had to do something like send cash in the mail overseas.  There are people who do it or try to do it, but it's a hobby.  There's nothing wrong with that, but most people just want an item.  They don't want to spend 10 hours trying to get it unless they see it as a personal challenge or just want to have some fun trying.

7.  I've heard that eBay and Yahoo will combine forces in the future.  Is this true?

Probably to a very limited extent.  Yahoo is a Seller's marketplace.  eBay is a Buyer's marketplace.  On Yahoo Sellers get all of the protection and payments are non-refundable.  On eBay it's the exact opposite.  They'll never be able to reconcile that difference, in my opinion.  In addition you have the language barrier, translation issues, and a host of other things.  Yahoo and eBay might be able to overcome the smaller problems, but they'll never be able to overcome the larger ones which is mostly cultural.

8.  The other proxy services are slightly cheaper than yours.

If you want a $5 standard CD and want to save $2 on commission then I'm not really the best choice for you.  The larger proxies are cheaper because they're standardized.  I work with people who need information, access to the decision maker, and special care.  Besides, once you add up the cost of the item, all the shipping and fees, etc., the difference in commission is very, very small in the end and the service you get for it is worth a lot more, in my opinion.  Please read the My Advantages section to find out more.

9.  Can you handle car parts?

Not yet.  Anything I ship has to fit in a 3.00 meter box or less (2W + 2H + L).  But I'm working on joining up with a car parts supplier to handle shipping and receiving.  If you'd like to be notified about this service in the future, please contact me.

10.  Can you ship via FedEX, DHL, or UPS?

Only in very select circumstances.  All of them only offer very fast 1-3 day service which is very, very expensive.  One exception is the 10KG and 25KG box from FedEx.  They will ship anything that fits into the box for one standard price.  If you're buying smaller, heavier items then sometimes it makes sense to use FedEx, especially when it comes to clearing customs.

11.  What payment methods do you acept?

PayPal, Credit Card (VISA, MC, AMEX, DISC), International Postal Money Orders, and Bank Transfers.

12.  Are you a legitimate business?

Yes.  I have a Japanese corporation that's authroized to do this kind of work.  It's my full time job.  I pay taxes on the income.  I'm not an English teacher running home after 8 hours of classes answering emails and packing up boxes before bed.  I'm always interested in talking about new ways to import/export so if you have your own company and want to talk about working together please let me know.
