Fees

My proxy service is like the others in that it works on a cost + commission basis with commissions based on the final sales price of the item.  It's a little confusing at first but after your first couple of transactions you'll start to understand the process a little better.

Everything you need to know is listed below.  You can also click here to see a sample spreadsheet that I use to track all of the costs.

Commissions

This is the commission chart.  It's for each item purchased.  It doesn't matter if it's an Yahoo Auction , Yahoo Buy-It-Now listing, or a purchase from a website like Amazon or Rakuten.

For purchases over 8 KG in weight, there is a minimum commission of 3,000 yen.  For items over 15 KG in weight, there is a minimum commission of 5,000 yen.

Commission: Item price:
1,500 yen 0 yen to 5,000 yen
2,500 yen 5,001 yen to 15,000 yen
3,000 yen 15,001 yen to 20,000 yen
3,500 yen 20,001 yen to 25,000 yen
4,000 yen 25,001 yen to 30,000 yen
4,500 yen 30,001 yen to 35,000 yen
5,000 yen 35,001 yen to 40,000 yen
5,500 yen 40,001 yen to 45,000 yen
6,000 yen 45,001 yen to 50,000 yen
12% over 50,000 yen

Discount: If you buy multiple items from the same Seller at the same time, then you're charged a full commission on the most expensive item and half commissions on the rest of the items.  This applies to all items being paid for in one payment to the Seller.  This helps a lot if you're buying a lot of items from a website like Amazon; you'll save a lot of money.  This does not apply to auto parts or items over 50,000 yen.

Item Costs

You'll pay actual costs for the purchasing of the item including Final Auction Price, Domestic Shipping (from the Seller to me in Japan), plus the Bank Transfer Fee.  Japan uses a lot of COD (cash on delivery) shipping so you'll often see auctions with no shipping price listed.  Shipping for most items is 500 yen for smaller items up to about 2,000 yen for the larger items.  Most items are in the 1,200 to 1,500 yen range (about $15 to $18).

The bank trasnfer fees are usually betwen 168 yen and 500 yen per transfer ($2 to $6).  If you buy multiple items I'll pass along all of the savings to you such as combined shipping and combined bank fees.

International Shipping Costs

You'll pay for the cost of shipping the item from me to you overseas.  That's determined by actual price plus a small handling fee for materials.  I usually won't know this amount until the item reaches my shop, but if you have a weight estimate I cna give you a shipping estimate before you buy.

PayPal

There's a 4% charge added to the total to cover the PayPal fees.  The actual fees are 3.9% + $0.30 per transfer.
